Christmas Wishes From The LAMB Institute

A Joyous Christmas from
The LAMB Institute

Greetings from suzy mccall

One child, one miracle

Until August 14, 2005, Dilcia Sarahi Santos, age three, was living, naked, on a dirt floor in a tiny hut on a mountain somewhere in Honduras. We heard about “a baby in trouble”, and sent our baby-rescuer, Tomasa, on a mission to find Dilcia and, if possible, bring her to Tegucigalpa. Tomasa left early Friday morning, August 12, and during church services on Sunday morning I received a call that Tomasa andthe baby had arrived. “Don’t be scared when you see her,” I was told. (Who could be scared of a baby?) By the time we picked up Dilcia, her hair had been cut short (“Too many lice”), she had been bathed and dressed and fed, and looked absolutely exhausted. The Social Services doctor said the next day, “So sad. She will never walk or talk. She will need special therapy just to sit up. Her weight is that of an 8-month-old baby. It’s too bad you didn’t find her earlier.” I said to our staff and children: “Let’s pray for Dilcia. Let’s believe, like we did with Denis Ariel, that she will walk and talk. And when she DOES walk, we’ll all go run with her on the beach!” Well, it turns out that Dilcia has plenty to say. She knows everybody’s name, and exactly what she wants to eat. And she is on her feet, only holding on to one hand now. And so I have to make good on the beach trip — but what could be nicer than Christmas at the beach with Dilcia and 35 of her closest friends (the rest of our children)?

TRUTH: It’s never “too late” for God.

FOR DILCIA (AND EVERYONE ELSE): Jesus loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.

“Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes, with your right hand You save me. The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me: Your love, O Lord, endures forever.” Psalm 138

Merry Christmas from the Home office in Charleston!
Susan Clarkson Keller

Dear, dear friends of Suzy’s and LAMB’s,

2005 has been an amazing year at LAMB! Once again, I find I am humbled and inspired by the great and wondrous things that God has done – first, through Suzy – she is more abandoned, more willing to suffer and sacrifice for the sake of the Kingdom than ever. Secondly, the Lord has done great things through the people called to serve Him along with Suzy in Honduras – our full time Honduran staff and U.S. volunteers who came to serve for various periods of time. Thirdly and finally, those of you who have supported Suzy through time, talent, and resources so that what God has called Suzy to do in Tegucigalpa will become a reality. There truly are fewer things closer to God’s heart than a soul willing to give freely back to God what has been given freely to him.

I want to thank our donors especially in this letter. What you have starting below are the names of the very dear people who have given over the past two years. I can not tell you how much all of you mean to us here at the “stateside office” which is my small house in Charleston…..and to Suzy who is made aware of your gifts. I have the incredible privilege of opening each envelope which comes to the ministry. Thank you so much for your notes of encouragement to me and to Suzy. Thank you, thank you, thank you. May the Lord God Almighty bless and strengthen you this day and may you know that your money has been invested in a work that is founded upon precious gold and will stand for all eternity.

Highlights from 2005:
The God’s Littlest Lambs Christian Familycare Center was completed and opened in February ,serving approximately 80 children in daycare and kindergarden classes. We will add 1st and 2nd grades next month, Feb. ’06. An incredible work of God!
Diana Collins from Vermont began the child sponsorship program to help offset some of the many childcare costs. Thank you sponsors!
Wheeler Conkling, a lovely, very energetic retired businessman from Roswell, GA, moved to Tegucigalpa to help Suzy with coordinating volunteer efforts. He is an inspiration to us all.
LAMB Missionary students are getting closer to actually going to the field! Walter Flores will go to North Africa, the country of Mouritania, with the new Honduran missionary sending agency, Puertas Al Mundo. Jenny Funes will go to Pakistan through the Costa Rican branch of Global Teams. Esther and Nelson Sosa are planning togo to Spain with Puertas Al Mundo. The Honduran church is sending!
The residential children’s program grew from Suzy having 5 children in her full time care in Jan of 2005 to now 38 children. We are close to purchasing the property to build what we hope will be a wonderful place to raise many children who have been abandoned and neglected – The God’s Littlest Lambs Residential Children’s Home.
The long awaited delivery of donated items from Charleston was finally approved and by God’s grace, will be delivered via C5 to the US Airforce base near Tegucigalpa this month, God willing. Many thanks to Pat Holden, Mary King, and Gene Lesesne.
So many volunteers – people coming down individually or with teams – I want to list you all, but don’t think I can! We love you! Special, special thanks to Katie, Annabel, Mandie, and Jenny for their service as moms to lots of children for many months.
The LAMB Board is stretching out! We now have board member, Barbara Satkowski, representing the Barnwell LAMB Committee. She is taking the place of Patti Dean who moved to Texas. Starting 2006, we will have Victoria Jarvis and John McKinnon from Roswell, GA joining us on the board. We welcome back to the board, Lillie McGougan from St. James, Charleston. These new folks will be joining the rest of us: Sandra Anderson, Tammy Barnes, Susan and Kent Keller, Laura and Steve Bell, Gene Lesesne, Gordon Payne, and Board Chaplain, The Rev. Hank Avent.

Dear friends, please pray for Suzy and for all of our family at LAMB. Know that we love you and count ourselves blessed and honored to be in partnership with you in this work. May we keep our embrace ever widened for all whom God brings to us, Susan
P.S. If anyone is interested in going to LAMB, I will be taking a group in April and would love to have any of you join us. The dates are tentatively
April 6-11. This will be a time of seeing first hand what God is doing and helping in any way we can….we can rock babies!
